A Holistic Approach to Mental Health for Children, Adults, and Couples

Imagine walking into a place where the mind feels cared for just as much as the body - where hope, healing, and understanding meet. That’s the philosophy behind Peace River Psychology Center, founded by Dr. Karin Galliano, a licensed clinical psychologist whose career has been devoted to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s most challenging moments.

From Research to Real Lives

Dr. Galliano’s journey began with a deep curiosity about the human mind. After earning her Master of Arts in Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, she moved to Florida to pursue a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Florida International University. Her doctoral work was more than academic - it became a window into real struggles.

For seven years, she worked at a research-based clinic treating children and adolescents with anxiety and phobias, while also contributing to studies on the effects of crime and violence on youth in Miami schools. Her dissertation focused on how marital conflict impacts children’s mental health, giving her a unique perspective on the ripple effect family dynamics have on emotional well-being.

A “Health Spa for the Mind”

When Dr. Galliano opened Peace River Psychology Center in 2000, she wanted it to feel different from a traditional therapy office. She envisioned a place where therapy isn’t just about addressing problems - it’s about nurturing the mind and spirit. Her motto: “a health spa for the mind.”

Here, therapy is approached holistically. Whether it’s a child learning to manage anxiety, a couple working through marital discord, or an adult navigating grief, every client experiences care that honors the full spectrum of human emotion.

Caring for the Whole Family

Dr. Galliano’s expertise naturally extends to families. Her research on marital conflict informed her passion for marital therapy, and she especially loves helping couples stay connected and thrive. She is also recognized for her work in grief counseling, helping clients navigate the first crucial year after the loss of a loved one - a time when anxiety and emotional vulnerability are highest.

Her approach is warm, optimistic, and deeply personal. She believes that every life story is an honor to witness, whether it’s guiding a child through anxiety, supporting a spouse after loss, or offering comfort to those facing terminal illness.

At Peace River Psychology Center, mental health isn’t just a service - it’s a journey toward resilience, hope, and restoration. Dr. Galliano combines research-backed expertise with a holistic, compassionate approach, ensuring that each client is seen, heard, and empowered.
